Susan Sarandon Bio
It was the 1968 Democratic Convention, and there was a casting request for a movie that featured many characters for youngsters who interrupted it. Joe (1970) was auditioned in New York by two recent Catholic University graduates. Chris Sarandon, an actor who had trained for the role, was ostracized. His wife Susan got a major role.That performance was of Susan Compton who was the daughter of an ad executive Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). In the movie Dad Bill kills Susan's drug dealer partner and then makes friends with Joe (Peter Boyle)who is an outspoken scumbag who works as an assembly line worker and who is a collector of guns.Five years later, Sarandon made the film in which fans of classic films have come to recognize her as Janet who is entangled with transvestite Dr. Frank n Furter in The The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). After over 15 years, Sarandon began to campaign for Annie in Bull Durham (1988), taking a flight between Rome to Los Angeles at her expense. She said "It was such an amazing script... it did away with many myths and challenged America's definition of what success is". "I attended the film studio along together with Kevin Costner and shook hands with his hot assistants, before returning to the plane. Tim Robbins (1988), her Bull Durham supporting actor, already had two sons by the year 1992 and allowed Sarandon in a position in which she was able to leave her home and accept challenging roles. There were four Academy Award nominations were received in the 1990s. The best actress award for Dead Man Walking (1995) was also awarded. Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980), was her first Academy Award nomination.
